Being a mountain lover means discovering the beauties and the wildness of the different mountain peaks in Europe and not only… We, MountainGuide-Sibiu suggested you an amazing hiking tour during which we shall explore a little part of the fascinating Carpathian Garden.
During our tour, we shall cross the main summit of the most striking and daring ridge of the Meridional Carpathians: the Fagaras Mountains, also known as the Alps of Transylvania. We invite you to join us and explore wild valleys, climb the highest peaks, admire alpine glacial lakes, enjoy the diversified flora and fauna and why not listen to amazing stories of the local people…

Day 1: Welcome in Romania!
Arrival at the International Airport in Sibiu .
Sibiu is a former medieval fortress of Saxon origins, worldwide known for its rich cultural heritage (in 2007 it was declared European Capital of Culture).
Cultural tour in the most important places in Sibiu…
We shall end our day with a delicious dinner in a traditional local restaurant.
Day 2 Fagaras, here we come!
Route: Sibiu-Sebesul de Sus village–Moasei Ridge–Suru Cabin 1450 m
Length: 3 ½ hours
Level difference: + 795 m

Day 3. Up to the high peaks of the Fagaras
Route: Suru Cabin–Suru Saddle–Budislavu Peak–Avrig Lake- Cabana Bârcaciu (1550 m).
Length: 6-6 ½ hours
Difference of level: + 880m / - 780m
Dinner and overnight here.
Day 4: In the heart of the Fagaras Mountains
Route: Bârcaciu Cabin(1550 m)–Scarisoarei Plateau-Scara Peak( 2306m)-Şerbota Peak (2331 m) – Negoiu Cabin (1546 m).
Length: 7 - 7 ½ hours
Difference of level: + 777m / - 781m

Day 5. The Negoiu Peak (2535m) – the second highest peak in the Romanian Carpathians
Route: Negoiu Cabin–Saratii Valley–Negoiu Peak (2535 m)–Caltun Lake–Laitel Peak (2390 m)-Paltinu Peak -Balea Lake.
Another surprise welcomes us here; the view of the incredible Balea Valley and the famous Transfagarasan road, one of the greatest roads in the world, as the famous Top Gear crew used to say 4 years ago in a documentary shot here.
The road that touches the sky was built at the order of the former Communist Romanian President, Nicolae Ceauşescu, and it was considered a strategic linking road between Transylvania and South Romania – Wallachia.
Length: 8 - 8 ½ hours
Difference of level: + 989m / - 495m
Dinner and overnight at Paltinu Cabin.
Day 6: A relaxing day on the peak Vânătarea lui Buteanu -2507m
Route: Balea Lake-Vaiugii Valley-Vanatarea lui Buteanu Peak (2507 m)–Revolver–Capra Lake–Capra Saddle (2311 m )–Iezerul Caprei Peak(2417 m)–Paltinu Peak–Balea Lake.
Length: 4 hours
Difference of level: + 467m / - 467m
Dinner and overnight at Paltinu Cabin.
Day 7: Towards the “Romania’s Roof”
Route: Balea Lake–Capra Saddle–Fereastra Zmeilor Monument–Nerlinger Monument–Mircii Peak (2471 m)–Podragu Saddle –Podragu Cabin (2136 m)
Length: 6 hours
Differences of level: + 446m / - 332m
Dinner and overnight at Paltinu Cabin.
Day 8. The big day! Conquering the “Romania’s Roof”
Route: Podragu Cabin–Podragu Saddle–Vistea Mare Peak (2527 m)–MOLDOVEANU Peak (2544 m)–Fereastra Mare a Sambetei Saddle–Valea Sambetei Cabin(1401 m).
Finally the big day has come! Today we’ll step on the highest mountain peak in the Romanian Carpathians – MOLDOVEANU Peak (2544m), the second as altitude in the Carpathian mountain chain, after the Gerlachovský Peak (2655 m) in Slovakia.
Length: 9 – 9 ½ hours
Difference of level: + 408m / - 1143m
Day 9. Goodbye Făgăraş!
Route: Valea Sambetei Cabin – Brancoveanu Monastery -Sibiu
Transfer to Sibiu, visit the beautiful Open Air Museum.
Dinner party at a traditional restaurant.
Hiking tour length: 2 -2 ½ hours
Difference of level: - 710m
Transfer to Sibiu: 1 h 30 min.
Day 10. Spare time and shopping
Transfer to the International Airport in Sibiu.
