MountainGuide-Sibiu suggests you an exciting hiking tour in the Cindrel Mountains where we’ll have the occasion to meet flocks of sheep spread on the grasslands and pastures, great people always eager to share a bit of their life experiences with you.

Day 1. Welcome in Romania
Arrival in Sibiu, a former Saxon medieval town, declared in 2007 European Capital of Culture. Transfer to the hotel; afterwards a cultural guided tour in the historic center of the city (about 2 hours). 
We’ll end our first day with a traditional Romanian dinner.

Day 2: First day in Cindrel
Route: Sibiel village – Fântânele – Orlat Valley - Gura Raului village
Our adventure starts in Sibiel where we’ll visit the Icon Glass Museum. Afterwards, we’ll continue our tour by crossing the village of Fântânele and following a narrow path which leads us to the former Fântânele cabin, destroyed in a fire, few years ago. We’ll soon get to the sheepfold of the famous shepherd – Lică. Great host as Lică is, he’ll invite us to taste some delicious cheese he himself prepares here.  We’ll leave Lică behind and keep on with our tour till we reach the village of Gura Râului. Our host, Mrs Norica welcomes us with delicious traditional dishes, some true delicacies!

Day 3: Another day, another chapter
Route: Gura Raului village – Blidărei – Vălare – Păltiniş Resort.
In the morning we’ll visit a traditional workshop where we’ll learn how to sew the traditional costumes that the local people wear when going to church or on different holidays. We’ll continue the tour above the village, on a path that leads in the area of Vălare, up in the mountains. We’ll meet Mr. Gheorghe a shepherd who welcome us with a traditional dish – polenta balls filled with chees cooked on embers.
After our short break we’ll go on walking till we get to Păltiniş, the mountain resort in the heart of Cindrel.

Day 4: Towards the summit
Route: Păltiniş -  Găujoara Glade – Bătrâna saddle – Rozdeşti peak (1954m) – Cânaia Cabin.
Today we start our tour towards the Cindrel Peak. The route is wonderful, and the view breathtaking indeed. We’ll stop for some pictures and a short break at the bottom of the Rozdeşti Peak (1954 m). We’ll continue the tour always having in front of us the astounding view of the Şerbănei, Cânaia and Cindrel (2244 m) peaks.
We’ll end our tiring day at the Cânaia cabin.

Day 5: Up on the highest peak!
Route: Cânaia refuge - Cindrel Peak (2244 m) – Iezerul Mare Lake – Cânaia Saddle – Cânaia Cabin.
From the cabin we’ll take it to the West; soon we’ll be on the highest peak in the Cindrel Mountains. The peak bears the same name and it reaches 2244 m. Up there we’ll enjoy a great day on the bank of the glacial lake Iezerul Mare, in the Natural Reserve of Cindrel.

Difference of level: + / - 473 m.

Day 6: Back to Păltiniş
Route: Cânaia Cabin – Şerbănei Saddle - Rozdeşti Peak - Bătrâna saddle - Muncel Glade - Păltinis
Today we’ll go back to Păltiniş (the highest mountain resort in the Romanian Carpathians); it will be a great relaxing day!

Difference of level: + 183 m / - 504 m

Day 7: On the steps of the Romanian shepherds
Route: Păltiniş –Onceşti Glade – Tomnatec Glade – Apa Cumpănită Saddle - Plaiului Peak - Fraga Peak – Coasta Boacii Ridge – Răşinari village
After a few days in the Cindrel mountains, we’ll definitively need a change, a great day to remember… Today we’ll cross some wonderful alpine glades up until the Plai peak where Serban, a local shepherd, is waiting for us. He always cooks something special for his guests…We’ll end our tour in Rasinari, in a traditional household.

Day 8: Goodbye Cindrel, Hello Sibiu
Route: Răşinari village - Prislop – Măgura Cisnădiei Peak ( 1304m) – Cisnădioara village.
Today we’ll end our route in the Cindrel mountains with a trekking tour on the Măgura Cisnădiei summit from where we’ll have a great view over the whole region of Sibiu. We’ll climb down to Cisnădioara and visit the fortress on Saint Michel Hill. 
Length: about 5 hours
Difference of level: + / - 514 m
Transfer to Sibiu; visit in the Open Air Museum. 
Dinner party – end of tour.

Day 9: Spare time
Shopping, transfer to the airport
